Chapter 4

Updating Customizations in the User Databases

Users who are currently using a previous version of C-MOLD, and have added items (e.g., resins, coolants, mold materials, molding machines, or customized templates) to the user database, should copy this information to your new installation. The database update program included with the C-MOLD release will copy all of your user data from your current database to the new database for use with C-MOLD.

Note: Some changes have been made to the database and prior versions will no longer work with the current software.

Update Procedure

Use the following procedure to update the user databases:

  1. Install C-MOLD 98 as instructed in this guide. Make sure that you save the old database directory and do not overwrite it with the new database.
  2. Look in the old cmdefs.csh or cmdefs.sh file for the definition of the environment variable CMOLD_DB. This is the location of the old database.
  3. Look in the new cmdefs.csh or cmdefs.sh file for the definition of the environment variable CMOLD_DB. This is the location of the new database.
  4. Source the new cmdefs.csh or cmdefs.sh file so that the path includes the C-MOLD binary directory.
  5. Type the following command, substituting the old and new database locations obtained in steps 2 and 3 above for the expressions in italics.
    $ update old_db_dir new_db_dir
  6. If an error message is printed to your screen, contact our technical support.
